By the age of three, it was apparent that Turrell was going to play the piano and direct choirs. Recognizing this was his great-aunt, Vickie O'Neal, who began teaching him at his young age and his great-aunt, Kal O'Neal, who allowed him to direct the choir along side of her. Vickie began by teaching him the "C-scale" which later evolved into her teaching him his first song, Kirk Franklin and the Family's "Jesus Paid it All." Kal, began showing Turrell how to learn and teach parts.
From then, Turrell began playing at his family's church at the age of 6 and remained a faithful musician there for 17 years.
By age 16, he had become a sought after musician in Northwest Indiana, playing for various area pastors/churches, musicals, and conferences. He credits his musical growth during his teenage years to Pastor Dewitt Jackson, Sr., pastor of the Revival Center COGIC & founder of the Michigan City Mass Choir and his son Minister Dewitt Jackson, Jr., Minister of Music of the Revival Center Church. It was during the many services at Revival Center where Turrell began to realize that his playing was different than those around him, and that he gravitated to a non-traditional church sound.
Turrell graduated from La Porte High School, and attended Bethel University in Mishawaka, IN. At Bethel, he helped to reestablish The Gospel Choir by becoming the music director, as well as establishing the O'Neal Family Chorale (OFC - later known as the One For Christ Chorale), comprised of all of the O'Neal nieces and nephews.
Transferring from Bethel University to Indiana University South Bend, Turrell continued participating in his school's music department by becoming the music director for the IUSB Gospel Choir. It was at this time, when Turrell connected with Pastor Jonathan "YPJ" Miller, and became a part of the renowned "Dream Music" band comprised of Tarrah "Micki Miller, Redginald "Wally" Norris, Brent "Beaston" Easton, and Derrick "Dirk" Hines.
In 2016, he was appointed and served a four-year term as the National Minister of Music for the Atlanta-based United Churches of God in Christ organization. He is credited for rebranding & professionalizing the music department.
In September of 2017, he released his first single entitled "Fight 4 Me", of which he both wrote and produced, and released his first EP entitled "The Bishop's House Mixtape" a year later in September of 2018.
Turrell holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Public Relations with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Creative Writing from Indiana University South Bend, and currently teaches Middle School English within the South Bend Community School Corporation.
Currently, Turrell is the minister of music and youth pastor at Sweet Home Ministries in South Bend, IN, as well as an organist/keyboardist at his church Faith Alive Ministries in South Bend, IN. He is the keyboardist and music director for Gospel Recording Group, Stephen Anderson & Resolved, Gospel Artist Emorja Roberson, and for Independent R&B artist Micki Miller of which he travels both nationally and internationally.
